Kent Landscapes

This was my first love in photography and is the subject that has has kept me interested for over 30 years.

I hope that my photographs convey the sense of harmony in line and pattern that I see in the fields and hill around me in what, despite the best efforts of the developers, is still a most beautiful county.

Field of oilseed rape, Elchin Hill, Hastingleigh, near Ashford, Kent

The original title of this picture was "Oilseed rape, the gaudy tourist in the English landscape" - a mild protest against the proliferation of this anti-social crop. Toned in Photoshop and selectively cut back to the original colour

This was a beautiful day for photographs with lots of both clouds and sunshine.

Sunrise over Teynahm

This image has been "got at" only insofar as I have taken out most of the rather ugly telegraph poles and electricity power cables.

Apple blossom, Chartham Hatch, near Canterbury

Shot in an orchard near Canterbury in May. Converted to B&W in Photoshop and then duo-toned with a slightly pinkish tinge.

Shakespeare Cliff, Dover

This was originally shot on 35mm FP4 in 1982 and later scanned into Photoshop for limited manipulation - mainly to remove scratches and other imperfections and a little duo toning. Note "golf ball" grain!

Summerhouse Hill, Folkestone

This image was shot in 1982 and the trees are no longer there. Originally shot on 6x6 FP4 it was later scanned into Photoshop to remove scratches and blemishes. Warm toned to simulate the results that I used to obtain on Record Rapide paper.
